Tough Mudder Training @ MIH

By Estella in training with no comments

Short of flying to NYC or LA for KB workshops, this was another distant place driven to for a workout. On Saturday, I was up at 6:30am, had a quick breakfast, and was out the door by 7:30am. I took a nice drive out to St. Catharines, top down of course!, to visit and train at my friend Jennifer Hintenberger’s gym: Make It Happen (MIH). A couple of months ago I joined her Tough Mudder team which is now 27 members strong and today was the start of their Tough Mudder training which consisted of a boot camp class and 30 minutes of running afterwards. I thought it’d be nice to meet my team and get a good workout on. And it went something like this:

You Made It
A workout based on the moves everyone hates

Burpees 3 sets 45s/15s rest:
super burpees (with pushup)
fast burpees (no pushups, standing at top)
mountain climber burpees
wall sits

2 sets 45s/15s rest
weighted plie squats
plie squat jumps
dbl kb split jumps
frog jumps

2 sets 45s/15s rest
explosive push ups
side to side push ups

2 sets 45s/15s rest
kb lateral holds
kb bicep curls
kb lateral raises

2 sets 45s/15s rest
double kb presses
double kb press & holds
double kb snatches

side planks

stretch & cooldown

Running:
1 min run, 1 min walk. Alternating
2 min run, 1 min walk.

This was a killer workout! I literally couldn’t stop sweating and was dying at parts but made it through the workout and would definitely do it again. I even had delayed onset muscle soreness the day after. The most noticeable soreness was in my quads and thighs. Walking up and especially down stairs became a struggle for the next 3 days.

About Stronger than Unbroken

Stronger than Unbroken is a personal blog I started to show that true strength comes from within. It is both a physical and mental battle. Strength comes from every obstacle and personal goal I have had to overcome. With each experience, comes confidence and the drive to become better and stronger than when I first started.
