I am back from my interview with Ryan Shanahan. As always, it is a pleasure whenever we get to talk and hang out. We have been great friends and partners in crime on a number of projects since randomly meeting at a gym in 2004. You’ll hear more about that story when you listen to our interview.
Today, we met up in the evening and started off our session by making a fresh fruit smoothie. It was actually meant to be a green smoothie but Loblaws was sold out of kale and his wife had made chips out of the rest of their kale supply, so fruit smoothie it is! I love putting kale in my shakes and everything else I make, but I’ll save that for another post! Anyways, moving on, Ryan thought it’d be a great idea to film me making the smoothie and talking through it. I’m a bit camera shy and have never really talked in any of my videos or done an instructional video before, so this was a first for me. Without really preparing any script or what to say (yeah, i’m that kind of girl, I like to make notes and be well prepared for my presentations) I just went for it! What’s there to lose, right? The camera was rolling and the words just flowed out of my mouth as I was preparing the smoothie. Before I knew it, we had shot a 6 minute video. Not too bad for a first attempt and the smoothie was delicious!

As we sipped our smoothies from super hero cups, we sat down and began our interview session. A lot has happened within the 8 years we’ve known each other, so there was plenty to discuss. Usually an interview would run 20 minutes, but by the end of it, we had talked for a good 45 minutes! You’ll hear about how our paths crossed, my journey from being the shy, fat girl turned athlete – how I lost 50lbs, became the poster girl for KettleWorx, and a major setback that motivated me to bounce back and become stronger than ever. I also talk about my easy to follow diet secret and one superfood that you should be incorporating into your diet. Life’s a journey and it’s the experiences you go through that build the strength and confidence to become a greater version of yourself every time.
